Answered Prayer...

I should have updated a few days ago but I let time get away from me... Caleb went last Friday for his first fitting and the leg fit like a glove! His technician was shocked that it fit so well and I told him that much prayer had taken place before he did the casting for this leg, he said we should pray for him all the time! he said Caleb can wear it home on Thursday (yes, this Thursday), he was really surprised by how well Caleb was doing with it. I do need to find a PT for him to work with some. We are at the hospital right now doing chemo, this is a short treatment so we go home tomorrow. He only has 3 treatments left, hopefully (prayerfully) he will be finished by the first week of November. We have been told that the further he gets into his treatments the more blood transfusions he will need, so far this has proven to be true.
I can hardly believe that he will be 13 in a little more than 3 weeks! He had wanted to go play laser tag for his birthday but we will have to put that off until after chemo and when his blood counts are back to normal. We thought we had a dog for him but it looks like that fell through so if anyone knows of an unwanted yorkie let me know. He really wants one and asks for one all the time! He has actually eaten a little bit today, I had beef fajita's for lunch and I always let him have them (he only eats the steak strips) and then there was apple sauce on my dinner tray that he ate most of, I got him a bag of doritos and a hershey bar that he will snack on later and a sprite. Well I gotta get off of here, Dancing with the Stars will be on soon!

I saw your Pray for Caleb card at the First Presbyterian Church and thought your name sounds so familiar. When I saw the picture of all your boys and saw Daniel & Ben. I can't believe Caleb whom Daniel talked about all the time has grown so much. I sure miss Daniel & talking to you. I left the Alternative School almost a year ago and just started working here at the church a month ago.
I wanted to tell you that you are such an inspiration to mothers with children. I am praying for Caleb and all of your family.

Casting your cares

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall." Psalm 55:22 (NIV)

How many times do I worry for days or try to solve a problem on my own? When I finally release it to Him, I think, Why didn't I turn it over to Him a long time ago?

God's Word tells us to "cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall" (Psalm 55:22). It also reads, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6).

We aren't supposed to fix ourselves. We aren't supposed to worry and fret. We are supposed to "cast" and "present." Cast our cares and burdens to God, and present our requests to Him. When we do what His Word tells us to do, we can then experience peace and comfort (Philippians 4:7).

Thoughts on today's verse
Where does your heart live? That's what these verses are all about. Is there a constant awareness in your life that God is present? Is he the unseen but always present companion in all your ups and downs? Or is God here when it is convenient and gone when things are busy? Joy comes from knowing we are never alone. Prayer is the ongoing conversation we have, Spirit to Spirit, with God. Thanksgiving is the great reminder that we have been blessed no matter what the circumstances may suggest.

I struggle as much as anyone with turning a conversation to spiritual things. However, I can't escape a few truths that lead me to step out by faith:
First, I am compelled by the realization that without Christ all men are lost and without hope. Sure, there are good people that do good things, but that doesn't change the fact that we all sin naturally. I've never taught a single one of my children how to steal a cookie, yet they all have done it. It's part of their natures. And it's because of sin all men are lost.
Second, I'm compelled to share Christ with others because of the reality of hell. Thinking about hell is not in vogue today. But Christ spoke of hell as a real place of eternal judgment and torment & there is only one way to avoid it.
Third, I want to share the good news because it is the very reason for which Christ came to the planet Earth. Jesus Christ didn't go to the cross just so we could have happy homes. He came "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). He is our only hope and the only thing that brings true joy.
